Nickel oxide is a green powder, yellow powder when overheated, specific gravity 6.6-6.8, melting point 1990ºC. It is oxidized to nickel sesquioxide by heat to 400ºC in the air, and at 600ºC, it is reduced to nickel monoxide and calcined at low temperature to obtain nickel monoxide, which has chemical activity. If the nickel oxide obtained by calcination at 1000ºC is greenish-yellow, the activity is small. The solubility and catalytic activity decreased with the increase of the preparation temperature and the increase of the density and resistance of nickel oxide.

Application:
Hydrogenation reaction: Nickel oxide can be used to prepare hydrogenation catalysts for hydrogenation reactions, such as hydrocracking, hydrodeoxidation, etc.
Oxidation reaction: Nickel oxide can also be used to prepare oxidation catalysts for oxidation reactions, such as MA oxidation, C6H6O oxidation, etc.
